The PA, through its fundraising activities, generates an income typically of £10,000 per year
The St Thomas More Parents’ Association exists to encourage a feeling of ‘community’ amongst the parents through its social events whilst at the same time raising funds for the benefit of the students who attend the school. All parents of St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive pupils are automatic members of the Parents’ Association.
Apart from holding events which enable parents to socialise with each other, the PA, through its fundraising activities, generates an income typically of £10,000 per year, all of which is available for providing extra equipment or activities for the pupils, over and above that which the school provide from the funding received from the Local Authority. That being so the support from parents and carers in assisting the PA in their fundraising endeavours cannot be underestimated.
Our webpage contains information on our activities and fundraising status as well as giving you a flavour of who we all are and what we do. Please take the time to visit the site and feel free to contact us with new ideas to generate more funds for your school.
Can You Help?
Many parents have asked how they can help the Parents’ Association raise money for their children’s school.
Attending PA events throughout the school year can be a fun and enjoyable way, but this is not necessarily easy or practical should it encroach on other family or work commitments or childcare difficulties.
Another way of supporting the PA’s endeavours to fundraise is by providing raffle prizes. We would happily take any unwanted gifts, which we can utilise in forthcoming raffles, particularly the Summer BBQ. All donations can be sent in to the school office for the attention Gerry Stockman.
Donations do not have to be gifts. Do we have any qualified beauty therapists, manicurists or hairdressers willing to donate pampering sessions, for example?
Do you own or manage a restaurant? A table for two would make a wonderful prize!
Are there any holiday-home owners prepared to offer their accommodation for a week or weekend, as a tempting raffle prize?
Finally, cash donations are always welcome, and the Parents’ Association are happy to receive donations by bank standing order, should this prove easier for you.
Thank you for any past support you have given which has enabled your Parents’ Association to provide all of our children with equipment not always covered by State funding. More importantly, thank you for your future support; it is very much appreciated by the children of St Thomas More.
